I’m hosting a webinar next week, Building Blocks of a Startup

A guest lecture as part of Technology Venture Creation at Sydney University.
This coming Tuesday 31 March I’m hosting a public webinar for Monash University on customers, prototypes and getting traction.

Next week I’m hosting a webinar over Zoom on startup fundamentals. We will cover; talking to your customers for the first time, prototyping on a budget and how to get traction without investment. All topics that are essential for founders to get familiar with yet often it’s difficult to get this information in a digestible way. The goal for me is offering a bunch of practical examples and (hopefully) communicating it in way that is super actionable.

It was originally going to be just for Monash students but we’ve decided to open it up so anyone can join. It will be live with a live Q&A as we go, it will be an interesting experiment from my perspective as I typically like to present these things in person. All part of the shift to online during the pandemic!

I’ll post up the recording here and make it part of my series of posts for newbie founders looking to take the plunge during these extraordinary times.

Building Blocks of a Startup Webinar

Startups are highly flexible businesses that are created to solve problems in the world. Whether itā€™s keeping people connected (Facebook or Instagram), helping people become more mobile (Uber) or making traditional industries more agile (think Deliveroo for hospitality), a startup often begins in an uncertain environment and navigates how to create value in tiny, agile steps.

Deciding to create your own startup project is exciting at the same time as daunting but incredibly rewarding and can open up your world to vast opportunities.

At the Generator we want to make sure you are building strong foundational blocks beneath you, so you can step foot onto a solid pathway in your entrepreneurial journey!

The Generator is thrilled to announce that we will be running an online webinar presented by James Alexander, Co-founder of Galileo Ventures, which will dive into some of the building blocks of a startup that will move your company towards a trajectory of success.

If you havenā€™t already, jump into our online lesson Startup Concepts 101 to refresh your understanding of some of the underpinning foundations of startup thinking.

James was formerly Co-founder and Program Manager of the INCUBATE Startup Program and has more recently taken on the role of mentor (and newbie venture capitalist).

In this webinar you will gain insight into:

  • Customer discovery: how to find and talk to your customers for the first time
  • Prototyping on a budget: what can you test and how to get results
  • Proof: ways to get traction without investment
  • The Galileo investor perspective: What Galileo look for in a startup

This session will be hosted via a Zoom webinar where you will be able to ask questions via chat in real-time. After Jamesā€™ presentation, we will open up the conversation for you to be able to ask him questions more directly.

A link to the Zoom meeting will be sent upon registration.
