I’m moving on from INCUBATE

After seven years growing INCUBATE I’m excited for what’s next and finding our next all-star Accelerator Program Manager

After nearly seven years since starting and growing INCUBATE, I’m sad and excited to announce that the INCUBATE accelerator Class 14 will be my last as Program Manager.

From October, I’ll be joining our wonderful mentor community to continue mentoring founders. I’ll also continue to support startups through Galileo Ventures while looking at new opportunities to continue to grow the local startup ecosystem on a global scale.

This means INCUBATE is now hiring! We’re searching for a new all-star Accelerator Program Manager to help INCUBATE continue to deliver the best accelerator experience in the country and expand its portfolio of startup program offerings.

It’s now hard to imagine a world where industry and universities didn’t support emerging founders. It’s been remarkable to see the ecosystem embracing student entrepreneurs and the integration of industry mentors into the university community.

Here at INCUBATE we’ve worked to support a huge pipeline of talent, and in turn transformed the lives of hundreds of students and researchers into new entrepreneurs and founders of some pretty cool businesses.

What is an Accelerator Program Manager?

The role is part of the growing industry of startup accelerators and incubators, many of which are associated with universities across Australia and the world. INCUBATE was one of the first and now the largest in Australia (based on number of graduated startups from the accelerator program).

The Program Manager works to coordinate the delivery and growth of the INCUBATE accelerator program and assist with its pre-accelerator programs, and community of students, mentors, industry stakeholders, and startup alumni.

The role encompasses both an operational and strategic approach in the success of the program.

What are the 3 coolest things about this role?

Me with some of the INCUBATE founders at Class 10 Demo Day.

From my perspective the coolest things about this job are (almost makes me want to stay!):

  1. Your job is to go and meet and recruit the best people you can find. Everyone from ambitious emerging entrepreneurs across the university classrooms and labs to accomplished founders and titans of industry.
  2. You get to directly support lots of entrepreneurs from the very beginning of their journey –– literally from the first coffee about an idea –– and be there as they kick goals, get customers, launch incredible new solutions and products and see them grow. Every day, all year round.
  3. You’re responsible for delivering the best early-stage startup accelerator program in the country. Sounds like a big claim? Go ask the mentors and our startups for their feedback. We need an all-star to help us to continue to grow and compete globally.

Who does this role suit?

If you’re interested you should apply. We’re an equal opportunity employer and love to see candidates with a diverse range of personal and professional backgrounds looking to get into the startup sector.

In particular we think this role really suits:

  • Previous startup founders or early startup employees looking to get into the support side helping multiple entrepreneurs level up and achieve their business goals
  • Experienced startup accelerator/incubator/workshop program managers looking to grow a leading startup program
  • Successful founders who have exited their businesses looking to get into the support side and give back with flexible work hours.
